Strategies for achieving carbon neutrality

added on 11-19-24 In this Our Changing Climate climate change video essay, I look at why the myth of overpopulation is actually a problem. Specifically, I look at how overpopulation is leading to dangerous conclusions both on the right and the left. On the right, it's leading to conclusions of population control, murder, and ethnic cleansing. On the left, it manifests as birth control access, but is still couched in the ideas of population control. Overpopulation is ultimately a myth that at best distracts from the needed work of climate action, and at worst leads to violence.

3-6-22 Can we survive the coming decades? Given the state of global affairs today, that's probably a question many people are asking themselves right now. The IPCC has just published their answer, at least from a climate point of view. And they pull no punches. We're almost out of time, they say, and we need immediate global geopolitical cooperation to succeed. Oh dear!

Why America will never become a climate leader: In this Our Changing Climate climate change video essay, I explain why America will never be a climate leader. Specifically, I look at how the United States has spent over 40 years attempting to pass climate legislation and take climate action but because of partisan gridlock and the firm hold fossil fuel companies and the capitalist class have on the government, nothing substantial has gotten done. As a result, the emissions levels of the United States are much higher than in the 1980s. But the United States not only has failed on climate change and climate leadership domestically but also internationally. The United States continues to block climate agendas that foreground climate reparations, and through its massive military pollutes the air and destabilizes regions especially susceptible to climate change. The United States will never be a climate leader because it is a huge obstacle to effective climate justice and climate action.
